TRAINING

Tactical Police Canine Handler Course

$6000

Tracking and evidence search is the hallmark of our training.  Police dogs are a locating tool and we will properly train K9 teams to search for non-violent offenders while maintaining control and reducing risk.  We have been recognized as experts in this profile and enjoy a reputation of successfully training teams to become more effective with their tracking work. In addition to the theory of scent and tracking development, we train your team how to approach a deployment in a logical manner.  Teams will be trained on how to acquire a track, re acquire and search more efficiently.

We believe that tactics are vital in police canine work. Based on the concepts of contact and cover, backup has proven to be essential not only to keep the handler safe during the search, but also help de-escalate and take suspects that are located by the canine team into custody with minimal use of force.  Properly trained canine teams working with tactically sound backup can help reduce risk and minimize injury to officers and suspects alike.

Our obedience is based on a “functional obedience” model.  We will train how to achieve control under stress and how to use equipment such as remote trainers and other tools to gain and maintain reliability.  The course follows guidance from best practices and case law in the industry.  Additionally, we will train environmental agility to build the dog’s confidence.  Coming from a functional obedience model, we will train the dog a tactical down, movement with backup officers, as well as working in environments that the dogs will encounter in their deployments.
